(Left to Right) Evan - My brother, My Mom, My Dad, Ron, Me, and Jamie Nelson

Thanks everyone who sent me e-mails, letters, posters, phone calls, etc. I wanted to let you know that I received them all. I am trying to respond to them as fast as I can! Also, to the students in Mrs. Bremer's classroom, I wanted to let you know that Flat Stanley is doing great. He had a great time driving to Alaska with me, riding in the top of my sled down the Junior Iditarod trail, and hanging out with my dogs! He can't wait to come back and see you guys and let you know ALL about it!

Thanks to everyone who made this dream come true. Without your help, it would not have been possible. I would like to especially thank my dogs, because without them, well, there wouldn't be a way to go down the trail. Their hearts are so big and they are my best friends! I would also like to especially thank my Dad for getting me up here, being my handler, and helping finance my love of mushing! My Mom for also supporting me and help finance and my brother for supporting me and helping handle my team at the races. Jamie and Ken Nelson for letting us stay at their cabin and helping show me the ways of mushing. Jeremy Hoover for going doing a run with me from Knik to Yentna Station, the first 50 miles of the Iditarod trail.  Troy Wayrynen for taking AWESOME photographs of the whole race, from start to finish and everything in-between. And Ron Jenkins for showing me trails to run on when I got to Alaska, and for all his other support.

Hello.
My name is Alana and this is my Sled Dog Kennel. I am 17 years old. My kennel currently contains all Alaskan Huskies, many of them are from Trail Breaker Kennel (Susan Butcher), Lost Mountain Kennels (Jack Berry), and Jamie Nelson's kennel.

I have been interested in Sled Dog Mushing since I was 7 years old, ever since my dad went to Alaska on a business trip.  In September of  2000, I finally got to accomplish part of my dream; I got my own Sled Dog Team!

I have currently completed my goal to run the 2004 Jr. Iditarod. Just a handful of young mushers between the ages of 14 and 17, run this race every year.

I really hope that you will follow me along my journey and please don't forget to look at the sponsorship information, it would be a great help to me and my team if you became a sponsor. Join us and become part of the history books and help me make my dreams a reality.

Stayed tuned for news on the next goal, "The Last Great Race," the 2012 Iditarod.

Thanks for stopping by!
